Multiple well-circumscribed lesions which are isointense to CSF are seen scattered within the supratentorial brain parenchyma. A few of these lesions reveal an eccentric speck or nodule. that is isointense to white matter and would represent the scolex. These lesions represent cycticerci in the vesicular stage.
Also seen are well-circumscribed lesions that are hyperintense to CSF with a peripheral rim that is isointense to white matter on all the pulse sequences. An eccentric speck that is isointense to white matter is seen within a few of these lesions and would represent the scolex. Perilesional edema is noted. These represent cysticerci in the colloidal vesicular stage.
